TIYENDE PAMODZI 2026
12 DAYS TO GO!
THE COUNTDOWN IS GETTING VERY REAL ...
... and we have a lot to look forward to
In just 12 days, Zambians from across Aotearoa will begin gathering at Hunua Falls Camp in Auckland for a long weekend of culture, music, laughter, family, fellowship and connection. And today's newsletter is our most comprehensive!
Over the past few weeks we have been sharing what makes Tiyende Pamodzi special — the memories, the people, the music and the opportunity to reconnect.
Now there really isn’t long to wait.
Have a look at the video below to get a taste of what awaits you ...
23–26 OCTOBER 2026 HUNUA, AUCKLAND
THIS IS TIYENDE PAMODZI 🎉
THE MUSIC. THE CULTURE. THE PEOPLE. THE MEMORIES.
Tiyende Pamodzi is difficult to describe in just a few words.
It is the laughter between activities. The dancing after dinner. Children making new friends. Old friends catching up. Stories from home. Games, music, food, culture — and that unmistakable feeling of being surrounded by community.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT TIYENDE PAMODZI?
MORE THAN A CAMP — A WEEKEND OF CONNECTION, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY
Tiyende Pamodzi is designed to bring together Zambians of all ages from across Aotearoa for a weekend that balances celebration, community, culture and time simply being together.
CULTURE, MUSIC & CELEBRATION 🎶
Expect plenty of opportunities to celebrate our Zambian identity through music, dancing, cultural expression, fashion, performances and shared traditions.
FAMILY FUN & FRIENDLY COMPETITION 🏃🏾♀️
There will be games, team challenges and activities designed to get children, youth and adults involved — with some friendly competition along the way.
YOUTH & THE NEXT GENERATION 🌱
Young people will have opportunities to connect, participate, share their perspectives and enjoy activities created with them in mind.
CONVERSATION & COMMUNITY CONNECTION 🤝
The weekend will create space for meaningful conversations, meeting people from different parts of Aotearoa, sharing experiences and strengthening relationships.
FOOD & FELLOWSHIP 🍽️
Some of the best camp memories happen around the table. Expect shared meals, conversation, laughter and time simply enjoying one another’s company.
NATURE, SPACE & TIME TO UNWIND 🌿
Hunua gives us a beautiful setting to step away from everyday routines, enjoy the outdoors and create space to relax, reconnect and recharge.
STORIES, MEMORIES & HOME
Expect moments that remind us where we come from — through storytelling, memories, music, culture and opportunities for generations to learn from one another.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION 🗳️
This year’s gathering will also provide an important opportunity for ZIAA members to participate in the life and future direction of the Association, including the 2026 Executive election process.

COME FOR THE WEEKEND. LEAVE WITH NEW MEMORIES, NEW CONNECTIONS AND A STRONGER SENSE OF COMMUNITY.
Whether this is your first Tiyende Pamodzi or it has become an annual tradition, there will be something for every generation.
YOUR CAMP. YOUR MUSIC. YOUR PLAYLIST. 🎶
What song immediately takes you back to Zambia?
What gets you onto the dance floor?
What should be playing while we eat, laugh, reconnect and celebrate together at Hunua?
We want YOU to help build the soundtrack for Tiyende Pamodzi 2026.
Add your favourite Zambian music — Kalindula, Zamrock, gospel, Afrobeat, old-school classics, current favourites or simply the song that reminds you of home.
Use one playlist — or add to both.
When your song comes on at camp, you can say: “THAT ONE WAS MINE!” 🎵

FROM CELEBRATING OUR COMMUNITY...
...TO HELPING SHAPE ITS FUTURE.
Tiyende Pamodzi is not only about coming together.
It is also an opportunity to think about the kind of ZIAA we want to build for the years ahead.
This year, that includes an important milestone: 2026 ZIAA EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS
SAVE THE DATE
NOMINATIONS OPEN FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER 2026
From Friday, eligible ZIAA members will be able to put themselves forward — or nominate another eligible member — for positions on the next ZIAA Executive.
This is an opportunity to bring your: EXPERIENCE • IDEAS • SKILLS • ENERGY • LEADERSHIP • PERSPECTIVE into the future of the Association.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING.
FOUR PEOPLE. FOUR ROLES. ONE COMMUNITY.
Over recent newsletters we have been exploring what different ZIAA Executive positions actually involve.
This week, hear from four members currently serving the community in four different roles.
Their experiences demonstrate that leadership and service within ZIAA can take many different forms.
HENRY MOONO
DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON — SOUTH ISLAND
REPRESENT. SUPPORT. CONNECT. The Deputy Chairperson helps provide regional leadership while supporting the wider work of the Association. For the South Island, the role includes representing ZIAA locally, serving as an important point of contact for members and supporting the Chairperson when required.
“LEAD LOCALLY. SUPPORT NATIONALLY. KEEP OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTED.”
KASIKU MUYUNDA
SECRETARY
ORGANISE. RECORD. KEEP ZIAA MOVING. Good governance depends on organisation, communication and continuity. The Secretary helps maintain important Association records, supports Executive and General Meetings, prepares minutes and provides administrative support to the Chairperson and Executive.
“KEEPING THE ORGANISATION CONNECTED, INFORMED AND ACCOUNTABLE.”
STEPHEN MULONDA
TREASURER
STEWARD. PLAN. ACCOUNT. Community aspirations also need sound financial management behind them. The Treasurer oversees ZIAA’s financial affairs, including budgeting, financial records, reporting, grants, fundraising and helping ensure that the Association remains financially sustainable.
“GOOD STEWARDSHIP HELPS GOOD IDEAS BECOME SUSTAINABLE ACTION.”
CLENNY THEBE
COMMITTEE MEMBER — NORTH ISLAND
CONTRIBUTE. ADVISE. GET THINGS DONE. Committee Members bring their experience, perspective and practical skills into the wider work of the Executive. They help keep ZIAA aligned with its Vision, Mission and objectives while contributing to governance, policy and practical Executive responsibilities.
“BRING WHAT YOU KNOW. HELP BUILD WHAT COMES NEXT.”
WHAT COULD YOU BRING TO ZIAA?
Perhaps your strength is leadership.
Perhaps it is finance.
Perhaps it is organisation, healthcare, technology, communications, business, events, culture, governance or youth development.
Or perhaps you are simply someone who sees what needs to be done and is prepared to help.
Different roles need different strengths.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING.
