In the last newsletter, we invited you to come together, reconnect and help shape what comes next. In this newsletter, we want to make things even more practical. With less than 4 weeks to go, Tiyende Pamodzi takes place 23–26 October 2026 in Hunua, bringing together Zambian families, young people, elders and friends for a weekend of culture, food, music, games, conversation and connection.

As we get closer to October, the organising team needs a clearer picture of how many people are planning to attend. Knowing expected numbers is essential for catering, room allocation, accommodation planning, children’s activities and the overall organisation of the weekend.
So, even if you are not ready to pay for your tickets yet, please register your intended attendance by Friday, 2 October.
You do NOT have to pay when you register. When completing your registration, simply choose the Manual Bank Transfer payment option.
This allows your attendance to be recorded now, while giving you the flexibility to make your payment later. What we need most urgently is to know who is coming and how many adults and children will be attending. That information allows the organising team to plan properly and helps make the weekend better for everyone.

2026 ZIAA EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS
YOUTH VOICES. YOUTH LEADERSHIP.
Last week we introduced the different positions being elected to the 2026 ZIAA Executive. This week, we are focusing on the role of the: YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE — NORTH & SOUTH ISLAND Rather than simply describing youth engagement, we wanted young people themselves to be visible in this conversation.
The official ZIAA role description gives the Youth Representative a practical mandate to represent young people within their island community, bring a youth voice and youth perspective into ZIAA decision-making, encourage youth engagement, coordinate youth-led events, help manage youth social-media activity.
This is therefore not simply a ceremonial position. It creates a direct connection between young Zambians in Aotearoa and the wider work of the Association.
WHAT COULD YOUTH REPRESENTATION LOOK LIKE?
LISTEN. CONNECT. CREATE. REPRESENT. A strong Youth Representative can help ZIAA understand what younger members actually want from their community organisation. The Youth Representative role provides a formal place for those conversations within the Association’s decision-making structure.
