That certainly wasn’t the result we wanted against Japan, but we should still be proud of the Copper Queens and we should continue to cheer them on and lift the ‘chimwela’.
Everyone so far from ordinary people to government officials, have been very impressed with the support system in place from the Zambian Community in New Zealand. And for such a small crowd, there has been no doubt from anyone that Zambia is in the house!
Shortly after the Japan game, we passed on the message to the team that we are with them all the way. And without saying much, we have it on good authority that the team is addressing the issues that they have.
So, let’s continue to do our bit as fans and proud Zambians, and let’s just have some fun at this rare privilege that we have of watching our own team at a World Cup.
Because remember, what the girls are doing now, what we are doing as fans, is not just for this event, but is inspiring, and will continue to inspire a whole generation of Zambians. This is a defining moment in our history even if you cannot see it, the same way that the Seoul Olympics of 88 were a defining moment for Kalusha Bwalya and his team. You will want to be a part of this.
So come Wednesday 26th July, we will see you all at Morningside at 3pm to get prepared to show Spain, that We Zambians are built different
